Ciphers

Postby Azazel » Sat Jul 11, 2009 6:52 am

Hey guys,

As you all (probably) know I'm away for the summer. So I was just wondering what people think about ciphers and codes in game. I did cryptology for my advanced higher computing so I'm full of cool stuff you can crack. Now, not anything terribly hard and mind blowing, just a bit of fun and mystery to spice things up. Esp good fun over letters on forums.

Do you want to see more of it or is it too much boring number crunching?

Let me know.

Artyom.

Since the ven don't have anything advanced like Babbage's Difference Engine I'd want to see all the various low-tech (say pre-Calculus) styles of ciphers that the ven employ.

I know about substitution ciphers, and the like, but I'm not up on the details of the other styles of ciphers that are available.

Interesting point: I was planning on including a ciphered note in my next game session. :)

Cool. Here's something I made up for peeps in my group. Check it out, crack it (it's fairly easy. Don't use the tinterweb though ;)) if you want/can.

My dear Hespa,

The birds sing their Autumn song, and I prepare to travel to far away lands. Many dangers await, yet I am not afraid for one day I return to have my revenge. May the soven in their slumber illuminate my way in this dark, dark hour. For Love gives us hope, revenge drives us forward. Love is the key to all doors.

Because of you guys I made a simple substitution cipher and then wrote it in invisible ink on a parchment. I think my players enjoyed it. ^_^

I'm going to do fun things like that in the future.

It was cool! But John had all the fun of deciphering it... More, please!
