Space Opera!

Postby wunderworks » Mon Dec 14, 2009 11:58 am

I am currently working on a Houses of the Blooded conversion for playing ven in a Sci-Fi setting! Think powerful Houses, rich spacing guilds, strange cults and sisterhoods, Emperors, and Wars of Assassins.

I'm expanding the Devotion system to include political groups, loyalty to specific people or Houses, and giving them benefits.

Also, each Domain will be a planet, and each Region will be a large land area. I'm going to be making some cosmetic changes, and expanding/re-naming the land types to fit a more sci-fi game. Some of the new lands will include Ocean, Polar Cap, and Island Chain.

If you have any ideas or questions let me know. :)

there ought to be an option of a space station instead of a planet for those who don't want to be bound to a rock.

hmm..

and no space opera is complete without having the option to have/be a trader/smuggler ship

Those are definitely available - the smugglers - but I think I'll wait on the Space Station option until the Slumming Book. ;)

I like the sounds of this. I would love a domain to possibly be a fleet of ships as well? As for ven culture updated to tech, I'd suggest reading the World Of Tiers series, by Philip Jose Farmer. Especially the second and third books, the Lords SCREAM Ven

Sounds intriguing. I'm curious to see it.

But definitely, stations are turf in most space opera, and important turf.
