Trouble and Production

Postby joshroby » Wed Sep 30, 2009 1:36 pm

So I'm doing my season actions. I've got, among other things, a Forest.

In Phase One, I decide that the Forest will produce Lumber. Yay.
In Phase Two, however, I roll Trouble dice and get a 1. The Forest is now Troubled, and won't produce until the Trouble is Quelled.
In Phase Three, I assign my Roadmen to go Quell the Trouble. Now the Trouble is Quelled.
In Phase Four, I harvest. Since the Forest is no longer Troubled, it produces Lumber.

Yes? Or is it:

Phase One: I want lumber from that forest.
Phase Two: That forest is troubled.
Phase Three: My Roadmen will be clearing up that Trouble this season.
Phase Four: Since the forest was Troubled this season, I DO NOT get my lumber. But at least next season the Trouble won't spread...

Oh, I would say the second... Trouble interrupts the production - sort it out now and you only loose a Season of goods. Leave it and you potentially loose a lot more. No?

Well, that's the way we've been playing it with John, but I suppose it is open to interpretation ^_^

Of course, if you don't sort it out, you lose the production. You also have to roll extra dice for all your lands next season... you want to sort it out, even if you have to bribe other players.

We have been playing it with the first option, but re-reading it seems like the second one is correct.

Hmm... :?

The first option is correct. The whole purpose of putting Actions as Phase 3 is so you can quell Trouble and complete the harvest.

Whoops, I owe my LS players an apology in that case... I've humped them out of loads of resources... Hummm... May be worth rewording it in the rulebook though *rummages for a pencil to edit his copy*

Yeah reading it again is really ambiguous. My bad then.

Bah, you're Shanri, screw with them as much as possible! ^_^ Your goal is to get them up the tree. They are playing on hard mode when they thought they were playing normal mode. ^_^

You can now be seen as benevolent and offer them an easier route if you want.

Okay, I think I need to put down Mach's Discourses - been re-reading them and I start to think like that IRL after doing so.
