So I assume a rank 7 ork is fucking horrific. If you want to go beat down some monsters, hunt rank 2 or 3 bunny rabbits out in your backyard. More cthuloid-beast slaying glory for the rest of us. :D

What he said.

Some common sense is needed when hunting orks -- both IC and OOC.

Rank 7 is not at all pretty, no indeed. ::Chuckle::

But, you can also make a gaggle of wee li'l orks and scale it. Say a band of five or ten orks, by themselves are each eminently squishable. However, as a group...

Edit: Ork spelling.

My concern is with a lot of orcs... you wouldn't be able to kill them.

BTW, rank 7: Prowess 3 + rank 3 Roadmen + rank 3 Bodyguards + Swordsmaster + Master of the road... is for an average ven 11 dice plus aspects... enough to beat this beast.

You can always stack stuff on. The important part is to be able to give the party a run for its money. So have them assemble the dice they're fixing on using, and then build as appropriate. Or start them off with a smaller threat so you can get a scale on their dice first, and then introduce the appropriately stocked critter that will ruin their day and cause several roadmen to dive in the path of their respective liege to prevent that wicked rank 5 injury.

ETA: A group of rank 1 orcs can be sufficiently evil, if you want 'em to be.

Another important note when dealing with things like Mass Murder.

Cheat.

No, I mean it. Cheat.

If you've overestimated your players'/PCs' abilities, cheat in their favor. Give 'em a scare, then count up less dice than you should for the second beat or make too many wagers, or do something to give them a leg up.

Cheat.
