The Golden Elk

Postby wunderworks » Thu Sep 10, 2009 4:55 pm

I am working on creating my character for the upcoming Live Action Houses of the Blooded Game and I have to play an Elk. I'm trying to think of a quintessential conniving Elk and I believe I have found it.

The Golden Elk

He is a wheeler-dealer, a power-broker, and a terribly powerful ven. However, he is also the weakest of all ven. He isn't an Elk, he sort of stumbled into the role (a blooded of the bear or serpent that is thought dead), and he isn't even particularly brave either (considering Courage as my weakness).

He is a power behind a throne, although he is powerful in his own right. He pushes his pawns forward, and contemplates his enemies moves.

What sort of aspects should I take with him?

I'm thinking of an Artifact that prevents Scrying and magic from working around him - with the Doom being an inverse in that he doesn't know when the Artifact doesn't work. ;)

Any ideas?

I don't like Artifacts or other powers that can cancel other powers.

How about an Artifact that alerts you as to others spying upon you (so you can play up to it). The Doom is that when it is activated you gain the Aspect of Paranoia until Dawn:

I: None
T: You are jumpy suspicious of everyone else
C: To act is a wildly paranoid way

I don't either - I was thinking about it and they're specifically a turn someone's fun off power, and that's not fun for anyone.

Alright, so I had a conceptual breakthrough last night after considering who I wanted to have as my enemy.

I've decided that this guy is going to be called The Golden Elk and he will be the enemy of Everyone. Half of everyone will want something from him that he's promised them, and the other half owe him something. If he dies the ones that want something won't get what they want, and if he lives the ones that owe him something will have to pay up.

I don't think he's going to live long, and I'd wager a number of people will try to stop the attempted murders. ^_^

I have another character concept that I will work on after this guy is toast, but I think he'll be an excellent little catalyst to start the B&T games off with a bang. ^_^

No artifacts either he always assumes he's being spied upon, because he's _that_ awesome. He's the Golden Elk. ^_^

I think that after the first game, I'll start a betting pool to determine how many more games he lives through... That in itself could be interesting.

And of course, the betting pool will be in-character so that other players can influence it! ;) Oh wait... My character is too bloody honest to influence the outcome... Damn! (Unless it benefits Milady ___ ).

Ha, I think he'd be wagering in that pool himself. ;)

So I'm trying to decide on the things he will be bringing with him to the LARP and was wondering - how do Blessings work in the LARP? If you bring a blessing from a Suaven does that mean you can only use it once during the LARP?

One thing I am considering is taking "The Husband" aspect from the main book (under Seasons and performances), especially if I have a PC who is his wife. It fits so well! :)
