The actual existence of Lady Shara Yvarai, 'The Veiled Rose', is a hotly debated topic in ven academia. Like Paul Bunyan or John Henry, she appears to have been a culture hero for the ven. It is nigh-impossible for Lady Shara to have accomplished everything attributed to her.
In comedy, Lady Shara was often a young, Spring ven whose father is trying fruitlessly to marry her off. In tragedy, Lady Shara shows a much different face as a daunting opponent.
Lady Shara was likely what we would call 'open source' today. Any writer or artist could use Lady Shara as a subject of his work or a character in her opera. Often, the use to which Lady Shara was put would often showcase the creator's own ideas or politics.
